BCB President Nazmul Hassan Resigns After 13-Year Tenure

Nazmul Hassan, President of the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), has officially resigned from his position after 13 years. He made the announcement during an emergency meeting with board directors, signaling the end of his long tenure that began in 2012. Hassan’s leadership has been instrumental in advancing Bangladesh cricket, particularly under the administration of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Throughout his presidency, Nazmul Hassan played a pivotal role in enhancing the country’s cricketing infrastructure and expanding its international presence. His influence was not just limited to cricket, as he also served as a Member of Parliament for the Kishoreganj-6 constituency since 2009. Re-elected three times, his leadership saw both challenges and significant strides in the sport.

The resignation was confirmed after a meeting at the Ministry of Youth and Sports, where Hassan was expected to discuss his future involvement with the board. This decision follows the recent departure of BCB’s Operations Cricket Chairman, Jalal Yunus, who was also a key figure within the organization. Together, these resignations mark a notable shift in the leadership of Bangladesh cricket.

Nazmul Hassan’s 12-year tenure is one of the longest in the history of the Bangladesh Cricket Board, concluding a period of substantial growth and transformation for the sport in the country. His successor, former Bangladeshi cricketer Faruque Ahmed, now takes on the role of BCB president, stepping into a leadership position with a strong foundation laid by his predecessor.
