India’s Rohit Sharma leads the chart with 4,231 runs, but with Babar just 40 runs away, he is on track to surpass Sharma soon.
Despite Babar’s milestone, Pakistan lost the series 3-0 to Australia. Babar has struggled recently, scoring just 80 runs in the ODI series and managing 47 runs in the T20Is.
He is now one of two Pakistanis in the top 10 T20I run-scorers, alongside current white-ball captain Mohammad Rizwan.
