Indian fast bowler Mohammad Shami has responded to ball-tampering accusations made by former Pakistani captain Inzamam-ul-Haq in a local YouTube podcast interview. Inzamam had alleged that Arshdeep Singh engaged in ball-tampering during the T20 World Cup.

Shami, addressing these claims, stated that if he participated in the Champions Trophy, he would bring three balls and cut them open in front of 20 people to prove they were not tampered with.

The Champions Trophy 2025 is set to be hosted by Pakistan, but India’s participation remains uncertain, pending approval from the Narendra Modi-led government in New Delhi.

Shami also recalled similar accusations during the 2023 ODI World Cup, where he was alleged to have used a device on the ball. He expressed surprise at these “childish” accusations, particularly from someone he respects like Inzamam.

Shami acknowledged the significant contributions of Pakistani bowlers in popularizing reverse swing but suggested that Inzamam should reflect on past instances where Pakistani bowlers were involved in tampering.

He dismissed the idea of using devices for tampering as absurd and criticized those attempting to deceive the public. Shami emphasized his respect for Inzamam but was critical of the recent allegations.
