Sri Lanka Defeated India By 8 Wickets To Claim The Women's Asia Cup Trophy

On Sunday, Sri Lanka secured the Women’s Asia Cup title by defeating India by 8 wickets.

In the final held in Dambulla, India set a target of 166 runs by scoring 165 for 6 wickets in their 20 overs. Sri Lanka successfully chased this target in 18.4 overs, losing just 2 wickets.

Harshitha Samarawickrama remained unbeaten with 69 runs, and Kavisha Dilhari contributed 30 not out. Captain Chamari Athapaththu also made a significant impact with 63 runs. Deepti Sharma was the sole wicket-taker for India.

Earlier, India, having won the toss, opted to bat first and managed 165 for 6 in their 20 overs. Smriti Mandhana led with 60 runs, followed by Richa Ghosh with 30 and Jemimah Rodrigues with 29.

For Sri Lanka, Kavisha Dilhari claimed 2 wickets, while Chamari Athapaththu, Sachini Nisansala, and Udeshika Prabodhani each took 1 wicket. Sri Lanka reached the final by defeating Pakistan in the semi-finals.
