Sunny Dhillon, a former assistant coach of a franchise in the Abu Dhabi T10 League, has been banned from all forms of cricket for six years by the International Cricket Council (ICC) due to his involvement in attempting to fix matches. The ban, announced on Tuesday, has been backdated to September 13, 2023, the date when Dhillon was provisionally suspended.
The ICC stated that Dhillon breached the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) Anti-Corruption Code and, after a thorough hearing and review of the evidence, was found guilty of several offenses. These included attempting to fix matches during the 2021 Abu Dhabi T10 League. Dhillon’s actions were part of a broader investigation that led to charges against eight individuals for corruption-related offenses during the tournament. Along with Dhillon, Parag Sanghvi and Krishan Kumar Chaudhary were also charged.

Dhillon’s specific violations included:
- Article 2.1.1: Being involved in attempts to fix or influence matches or aspects of matches.
- Article 2.4.4: Failing to disclose full details of any approaches or invitations received to engage in corrupt conduct.
- Article 2.4.6: Refusing or failing to cooperate with an investigation carried out by the Designated Anti-Corruption Official (DACO).
The ICC emphasized the importance of maintaining the integrity of cricket and reaffirmed its commitment to rooting out corruption from the sport.
