Maliha Ali of Pakistan Wins Bronze Medal at the 6th Asian Open Taekwondo Championship

Maliha Ali, representing Pakistan, won a bronze medal in the -73 kg category at the 6th Asian Open Kyorugi Taekwondo Championship held in Tangerang, Indonesia, from October 15 to 18, 2024.

A student at Lahore Garrison University, Maliha Ali demonstrated her hard work and dedication throughout the competition, earning praise for her outstanding performance.

The championship featured intense competition, with over 275 athletes from various Asian countries, including India, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, the Philippines, Malaysia, Nepal, and the host nation, Indonesia.

South Korea’s Shin Jeong Jin claimed the gold medal in the -73 kg category, while the silver medal went to Indonesia’s Maheshwari Nadira. Maliha’s achievement not only highlights her personal dedication but also inspires her teammates and aspiring taekwondo practitioners across Pakistan.

Prior to the championship, a 16-member taekwondo team from Pakistan arrived in Indonesia, eager to leave their mark in this prestigious tournament.

Hosted at the Indore Stadium Sports Center, the event provided a platform for athletes to compete at a high level and promote camaraderie among participating nations.
