ICC

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has taken a historic step by appointing an all-female match official panel for the Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025.

This will be the first time in tournament history that every umpire and match referee will be women. The decision is seen as a major milestone for women’s cricket and a strong message about gender equality in the sport.

The panel of match referees includes Trudy Anderson, Shandre Fritz, G. S. Lakshmi, and Michell Pereira. The list of umpires features well-known names such as Lauren Agenbag, Candace la Borde, Kim Cotton, and Sarah Dambanevana.

The 2025 Women’s Cricket World Cup will be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka. It is scheduled to run from September 30 to November 2, bringing together the top women’s teams in the world.

According to ICC officials, the move aims to create more opportunities for women in cricket and inspire future generations. By giving female match officials a global platform, the governing body hopes to encourage more women to pursue careers in officiating.

Players and fans have welcomed the announcement. Many see it as a landmark moment that highlights the growing recognition of women not only as athletes but also as leaders in cricket management and officiating.

With an all-female panel, the 2025 Women’s World Cup promises to be more than just a tournament. It represents progress, inclusivity, and the breaking of barriers in world cricket.
