Apple Unveils New iPad Mini, Pre-Orders Now Open

Apple

Apple has announced an updated version of the iPad Mini, marking the first refresh of its smallest tablet since 2021. Priced starting at £499, the new iPad Mini is now available for pre-order, with sales set to begin next Wednesday.

The latest model focuses on enhanced performance, powered by Apple’s A17 Pro chip. This upgrade brings a 30% faster CPU, a 25% faster GPU, and a Neural Engine that is twice as fast as before. The base storage has been increased to 128GB, doubling the previous 64GB, and it now supports the Apple Pencil Pro, making it a great choice for artists who prefer a smaller form factor.

In addition to performance improvements, the new iPad Mini supports faster Wi-Fi 6E and a more efficient USB-C port. It retains the same design as the 2021 model but comes with new, more subdued purple and blue color options. Apple also highlighted hardware-accelerated ray tracing, promising better visuals for gaming enthusiasts.

Despite being a niche product, especially popular with pilots, the iPad Mini has maintained a loyal following. Apple’s decision to keep it on a separate update cycle from its larger tablets suggests a continued commitment to offering this compact device for its dedicated users.
