The Apple Vision Pro is a fantastic device. Now to ascertain its purpose.

Nobody displays a new device like Apple. However, Tim Cook’s June 5th gadget was hailed as something more substantial. Apple’s CEO compared the unveiling of the Vision Pro, a pair of stylish glass goggles, to those of the Macintosh and the iPhone and claimed that it offers “an entirely new spatial-computing platform.” Apple’s message is very clear: following desktop and mobile computing, spatial computing, also known as augmented reality, will be the next major tech period. In this technology, computer visuals are superimposed on the user’s environment.

Both astoundingly spectacular and yet lackluster, the presentation. Every other headset on the market pales in comparison to the advances found in the Vision. Hand gestures and eye tracking have replaced clumsy joysticks as the new norm.

Users receive lifelike likenesses, whose eyes also display on the outside of the glasses to make wearing them less antisocial, rather than legless avatars. Apple has sprinkled its user-friendly design magic over the item.
