The attack on Hasina’s rally, which killed over two dozen people, had previously resulted in Rahman’s conviction in absentia. The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) denies involvement, accusing the government of political manipulation.
Rahman, living in exile in London for over 15 years, is expected to return and lead the BNP as his ailing mother steps down. Meanwhile, families of victims demand justice for the devastating attack.
