During a severe summer heatwave in Washington, DC, a six-foot wax statue of Abraham Lincoln underwent significant changes at Garrison Elementary School.
The statue, created by artist Sandy Williams IV and sponsored by the non-profit CulturalDC, began melting rapidly as temperatures hit 100 degrees Fahrenheit.

As the heat increased, the statue’s head detached, one leg separated from the body, and even the chair beneath it sank into the softened ground.
Despite efforts to shield it, the wax statue, intended to change like a candle, couldn’t endure the extreme heat, resulting in viral photos and widespread online discussions.
