Houthi spokesperson Mohammed Abdulsalam condemned recent US airstrikes in Yemen, vowing to defend the country against what he termed “American aggression.” The strikes, which targeted Houthi-controlled facilities in Sanaa and coastal regions, were conducted by the US Navy and Air Force on December 30 and 31, according to the US Central Command (CENTCOM).

The attacks destroyed command and control facilities, missile production sites, and drones, CENTCOM reported, stating that there were no US casualties or damage. Witnesses in Sanaa reported multiple strikes, including on the Defense Ministry, causing powerful explosions.
The Houthis, who control large parts of Yemen, claimed responsibility for firing missiles at Israel and attacking commercial shipping in the Red Sea, citing solidarity with Palestinians amid the Gaza conflict. Abdulsalam criticized the strikes as a violation of Yemen’s sovereignty and accused the US of supporting Israel.
The situation highlights escalating tensions in the region, with the Houthis continuing missile and drone launches targeting Israel and shipping routes.
