Iran Plans Clinic To Treat Hijab Law Violations, Faces Backlash

Iran

The Iranian government has announced the launch of a “hijab removal treatment clinic” aimed at providing psychological and scientific treatments for women who defy mandatory hijab laws. The initiative was introduced by Mehri Talebi Darestani, head of the Women and Family Department of Tehran’s Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice organization.

According to Iranian authorities, the clinic’s purpose is to address what they describe as behavioral issues among women who refuse to wear the hijab. However, this move has drawn sharp criticism from human rights groups and women in Iran, who see it as an oppressive tactic disguised as psychological help.

Global outrage has intensified, with many condemning the plan as a violation of personal freedoms. Critics argue that such measures reinforce control over women rather than addressing genuine societal concerns.

This announcement comes amid ongoing protests and resistance by Iranian women against strict hijab laws, further escalating tensions in the country.
