Israel Approves Deal to Purchase Fighter Jets from US

Israel has approved a multi-billion-dollar agreement to acquire advanced Fighter Jets from the United States. The decision is aimed at strengthening the country’s long-term defence capabilities and maintaining air superiority in the region.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the new Fighter Jets deal will reinforce Israel’s military strength. He described it as a key step in ensuring the country remains prepared for future challenges. The announcement comes amid rising regional tensions and ongoing security concerns.

According to Israel’s defence ministry, the purchase includes two combat squadrons. One squadron will consist of F-35 stealth Fighter Jets built by Lockheed Martin. The other will include F-15IA warplanes manufactured by Boeing. Both aircraft types are known for their advanced technology and operational capabilities.

Defence Minister Israel Katz stated that the deal is part of a broader plan to maintain Israel’s military edge. He said the acquisition supports the “Shield of Israel” strategy. This plan is designed to ensure long-term security and operational superiority.

The F-35 is considered one of the most advanced Fighter Jets in the world. It offers stealth features, modern sensors, and high combat performance. Israel already operates several of these aircraft and plans to expand its fleet further.

Netanyahu also highlighted plans to boost domestic defence production. He announced that Israel aims to develop its own weapons and aircraft systems. The goal is to reduce reliance on foreign suppliers over time.

Israel’s air force has played a central role in recent conflicts. It has been heavily involved in operations in Gaza and has conducted long-range missions in the region. Air power remains a key part of the country’s military strategy.

The government has also increased defence spending in recent years. The newly approved budget includes billions of dollars for military development. This reflects a continued focus on strengthening national security.
