Iranian Ex-President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad Narrowly Escapes Assassination

An assassination attempt on former Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was narrowly avoided when his vehicle malfunctioned and crashed. Reports indicate that Ahmadinejad’s car, which had a faulty air conditioning system, broke down, leading him to switch to another vehicle that then suffered brake failure and collided with another car in the convoy.

Ahmadinejad emerged unharmed from the crash, though one companion was seriously injured. Investigations suggest the malfunction may have been deliberate, as the car’s air conditioning had been repaired by Ahmadinejad’s security team the day before.

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ Ansar Protection Corps, responsible for Ahmadinejad’s security, has not yet confirmed or denied the assassination attempt.

This incident highlights ongoing security issues for prominent Iranian figures and follows a recent tragedy involving President Ibrahim Raisi.
