Malala Yousafzai, Nobel Peace Prize laureate, continues to draw attention to the importance of education, this time by advocating for Palestinian students. At a fundraising dinner at Oxford University, she unveiled a new scholarship program specifically aimed at supporting Palestinian students affected by the conflict.

Malala highlighted the dire situation in Gaza, where over 80 percent of schools and universities have been damaged or destroyed. She emphasized the urgent need for a ceasefire and the reconstruction of educational infrastructure in the region.

The scholarship program aims to provide direct funding to Palestinian students, offering them the opportunity to pursue higher education despite the challenges they face. Malala emphasized the role of education in fostering hope and resilience, stating that sharing the stories of Palestinian students and providing them with financial support sends a message of solidarity.

The first recipient of the scholarship will commence their studies at Oxford University’s Lady Margaret Hall in October, marking a significant milestone in supporting Palestinian students’ access to education. Malala’s initiative underscores the importance of global solidarity and support for education in conflict-affected regions.
