Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif praised Saudi Arabia for its consistent financial, economic, and diplomatic support to Pakistan, emphasizing that the Kingdom has never demanded anything in return. Speaking at the restoration ceremony of the Kachhi Canal in Taunsa, he criticized recent statements against Saudi Arabia, calling them deeply antagonistic and harmful to Pakistan’s national interests.
He reiterated his gratitude to Saudi Arabia, stating, “Saudi Arabia is a brotherly country whose support for Pakistan deserves the highest recognition. The Kingdom has stood by us unconditionally through every government.” PM Shehbaz urged the nation to counter propaganda against Saudi Arabia, asserting, “Our people will not accept any attempt to undermine our relationship with Saudi Arabia.”

The Prime Minister also criticized the handling of the Kachhi Canal project during General (retd) Pervez Musharraf’s tenure, describing it as poorly executed and awarded to contractors without a transparent process. He contrasted this with the PML-N’s handling of the project when they returned to power, ensuring its completion in 2018. He highlighted that the 2022 floods caused significant damage to the canal, necessitating its restoration and completion.
PM Shehbaz concluded by emphasizing the importance of the Kachhi Canal project, describing its completion as a challenge crucial to irrigating arid lands in Dera Bugti and other areas.
