Pro-Khalistan group Sikhs For Justice (SFJ) held a rally outside the Indian Embassy in Washington, D.C., condemning what it called the Modi government’s transnational terrorism. The group expressed solidarity with the people of Bangladesh and highlighted concerns over cross-border political repression.
The rally focused on the killing of Bangladeshi student leader Osman Hadi. SFJ described the incident as a political assassination linked to the Modi government’s strategy of transnational terrorism. The group called for an independent international investigation into the death.
SFJ speakers compared Osman Hadi’s killing with the assassination of Hardeep Singh Nijjar in Canada. They said both cases show a pattern of the Modi government targeting political voices abroad. Dr. Bakhshish Singh Sandhu of the Khalistan Council said Hadi was killed for his political positions and support of the Khalistan movement.
“Osman Hadi exercised his right to political expression,” Sandhu said. “His killing, like Nijjar’s, raises serious concerns about extraterritorial force to silence dissent.”
SFJ urged the United States, the United Nations, and human rights organizations to confront what it called the Modi government’s expanding use of assassinations and intimidation beyond India’s borders. The group emphasized that such actions undermine democracy, freedom of expression, and political stability in South Asia.
Osman Hadi, described as a prominent student activist, was reportedly killed in a targeted attack. SFJ maintained that the circumstances mirror other cases of transnational terrorism, including Hardeep Singh Nijjar’s assassination. While details remain contested, SFJ stressed the need for international scrutiny and accountability.
The rally concluded peacefully, with SFJ promising continued solidarity actions in global capitals. The group said these efforts aim to maintain international pressure on the Modi government and demand justice for victims of cross-border political repression.
The Washington demonstration underscores growing concerns over extraterritorial actions by states and highlights calls for global mechanisms to monitor and prevent transnational terrorism.
