The United States has restated its position of neutrality on the Jammu and Kashmir dispute, refusing to take sides as tensions flare between India and Pakistan after a deadly attack in the Pahalgam area of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
US State Department spokesperson Tammy Bruce addressed the matter during a recent press briefing, stating that Washington is “not taking any immediate position” and is observing the situation carefully. She added that the circumstances between the two nations remain fluid and evolving.

Bruce strongly condemned the attack in Pahalgam, which claimed the lives of more than two dozen tourists. She offered condolences to the victims’ families and insisted that those responsible be held accountable.
When asked about the possibility of reviving former President Donald Trump’s mediation offer, Bruce declined to elaborate, saying prior statements from Trump and the State Department remain unchanged.
Meanwhile, the spokesperson also touched on broader foreign policy topics, including reaffirming US support for humanitarian aid delivery to Gaza and revealing that the next round of nuclear negotiations with Iran will be held in Oman.
