Samsung Electronics plans to double the number of mobile devices featuring Google’s Gemini AI this year, its co-CEO T.M. Roh said. The move aims to give both Samsung and Google an edge in the global AI race.
By the end of 2025, about 400 million Samsung smartphones and tablets included AI functions powered by Google’s Gemini. In 2026, Samsung intends to expand this to 800 million devices, covering all products, functions, and services. Roh emphasized rapid integration of AI across Samsungโs ecosystem.
The expansion will support Googleโs AI ambitions, as the tech giant competes with OpenAI and other companies to attract more users to its AI platform. Alphabet recently released Gemini 3, highlighting strong performance on several industry benchmarks. Samsungโs adoption of Gemini reinforces Googleโs position in the mobile AI market.
Roh said Samsung is committed to delivering integrated AI services across consumer products, including smartphones, TVs, and home appliances. The company aims to regain its lead over Apple in AI-enabled features while staying ahead of Chinese rivals in mobile and electronics.
Samsungโs surveys show awareness of its Galaxy AI brand jumped from 30% to 80% in just one year. Roh expects AI adoption to accelerate further, with features like generative editing, productivity tools, translation, and summarization becoming more common on devices powered by Google’s Gemini.
Despite global memory chip shortages affecting margins, Samsung remains confident. Roh said the crisis impacts all electronics, from phones to home appliances, and may require some price adjustments.
The company also highlighted its foldable phone segment, which Samsung pioneered in 2019. While growth has been slower than expected due to hardware and application challenges, Samsung controls nearly two-thirds of the foldable market and expects adoption to rise in the next few years.
By doubling the reach of Googleโs Gemini, Samsung aims to strengthen its AI ecosystem, enhance device performance, and remain competitive in the fast-growing global AI and smartphone markets.
