The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has announced a public holiday on Thursday, February 5, 2026, in observance of Kashmir Solidarity Day. The decision aligns with the federal government’s declaration of a nationwide holiday to mark the occasion.
According to the official statement, all banks under the SBP will remain closed on February 5. The holiday provides employees and citizens an opportunity to participate in Kashmir Day events and activities across the country.

Meanwhile, the Punjab government has also announced a provincial holiday on February 6, coinciding with the Basant festival celebrations. This arrangement allows citizens to enjoy consecutive days off, February 5 and 6, along with the regular weekend.
Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz stated that the dual holidays provide an opportunity for families to celebrate safely and participate in cultural and festive events. She encouraged people to observe the Basant festival and Kashmir Solidarity Day responsibly.
Officials have reminded the public to plan banking and official work accordingly, as the holiday may impact routine services. Citizens are advised to complete urgent transactions before February 5 to avoid inconvenience.
