Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has announced the distribution of 3 to 5 acres of state agricultural land to poor families under the ‘Apna Khet, Apna Rozgar’ programme. The initiative aims to create sustainable livelihoods and support low-income households across the province.
She made the announcement while addressing the inauguration ceremony of electric bus services in Rajanpur on Wednesday. The chief minister said the ‘Apna Khet, Apna Rozgar’ programme would help families earn through farming and reduce poverty in rural areas.
Maryam Nawaz said the government wanted to ensure that development reaches every district. She added that no area would be ignored and that the province’s development path had improved over the past two years.
According to the chief minister, special attention is being given to backward regions. She said the long-standing deprivation of Rajanpur was now ending. The ‘Apna Khet, Apna Rozgar’ initiative, she added, would give poor families direct access to land and income opportunities.
During the ceremony, she also announced the expansion of electric bus services. She said the buses currently operating in Lahore would soon run in Rajanpur as well. The project aims to provide affordable and modern transport to local residents.
Maryam Nawaz said electric buses would operate on every major route in the district. She also revealed that 1,100 more electric buses were being added to the provincial transport system. The expansion is part of a wider plan to improve public transport across Punjab.
In her speech, the chief minister also criticized conditions in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. She said awareness campaigns alone could not replace basic needs such as food, healthcare and education. She stressed that people required real relief instead of slogans.
