Australia concluded their ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 campaign with a convincing nine-wicket victory over Oman in the group-stage clash at Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, Kandy.

Chasing a modest target of 105, Australia made light work of the score, losing just one wicket while securing the win with 62 balls to spare. Captain Mitchell Marsh led from the front, scoring an unbeaten 64 off 33 deliveries, including seven fours and four sixes.

Opening partner Travis Head contributed 32 runs from 19 balls, forming a 93-run partnership in eight overs. After Head’s dismissal, Josh Inglis finished the match with 12 not out from six deliveries, ensuring a dominant finish.

Australia’s decision to field first paid off as their bowlers restricted Oman to 104 in 16.2 overs. Adam Zampa starred with four wickets for 21 runs in 3.2 overs, earning the Player of the Match award. Glenn Maxwell, Xavier Bartlett, Marcus Stoinis, and Nathan Ellis also contributed to Oman’s batting collapse.

Oman struggled early, losing three wickets for just 39 runs in the first five overs. Middle-order batter Wasim Ali top-scored for Oman with 32 runs off 33 balls, supported slightly by captain Jatinder Singh (17), Hammad Mirza (16), and Karan Sonavale (12).

Despite the victory, Australia remains fourth in Group B with just two points, having lost matches against Zimbabwe and Sri Lanka. Oman finished at the bottom of the group, losing all three of their group-stage games. Both teams are already out of contention for the Super 8 stage of the T20 World Cup.
