ISLAMABAD โ Pakistan launches intelligence-based airstrikes on seven terrorist camps along the Afghanistan border following recent suicide bombings in Islamabad, Bajaur, and Bannu. Officials confirmed multiple casualties among terrorists, including Taliban commander Akhtar Muhammad.
Security sources said Pakistan launched a large-scale aerial operation targeting key hideouts in the Bermal district of Paktika. Explosions from the strikes were heard across the area, destroying terrorist infrastructure and training facilities. Additional strikes were carried out in Khogyani district of Nangarhar and Kami district of Jalalabad, targeting suspected terrorist shelters.
Officials confirmed that Akhtar Muhammad was killed during operations in Paktia. Multiple explosions damaged terrorist facilities, while ongoing aerial patrols continue to monitor the region. These operations follow Pakistanโs claims that recent attacks, including the Islamabad imambargah bombing and incidents in Bajaur and Bannu, were orchestrated by Afghanistan-based terrorists.
The Ministry of Information and Broadcasting stated that the attacks were carried out by Khawarij elements under the guidance of Afghan-based leaders. Responsibility was claimed by members of the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, affiliated groups, and the Islamic State-Khorasan Province (ISKP).
Pakistan said it has repeatedly urged Afghanistanโs interim Taliban authorities to prevent terrorists from using Afghan soil to launch attacks. However, Islamabad claims that no meaningful action has been taken, prompting the precision strikes.
โPakistan has always sought regional peace, but domestic security remains our top priority,โ the ministry said. โIn this backdrop, Pakistan launches selective intelligence-based operations to target terrorist camps along the border with accuracy and precision.โ
The government urged Afghanistan to fulfill its obligations and prevent the use of its territory for attacks against Pakistan. Islamabad also called on international stakeholders to press Taliban authorities to honor commitments under the Doha Agreement, emphasizing the importance of regional and global peace.
