The UAE has strongly reacted to recent tensions in the region, with senior officials warning that any attack on the country would be illegal and unjustified. The statement came from the United Arab Emirates Minister of State, Reem Al Hashimy, during a recent media interview.
Speaking to CNN, Reem Al Hashimy said that any Iranian attack on the UAE would violate international law. She stressed that the country hopes such a situation will never happen. However, she also made it clear that the UAE is prepared to defend itself if necessary.
The minister explained that the government remains committed to peace and stability in the region. She noted that the UAE prefers dialogue and cooperation with neighbouring countries. At the same time, she said the country will not remain silent if its security is threatened.
Reem Al Hashimy stated that if missiles were ever launched toward the UAE, the country would respond appropriately. She emphasized that defending national sovereignty is a fundamental responsibility of any government. Despite the strong warning, she repeated that the UAE hopes tensions will not escalate further.
The minister also spoke about relations between Iran and neighbouring states. She said countries in the region have generally tried to act responsibly and maintain stability. According to her, regional nations have often shown fairness and reason in their dealings with Iran.
Meanwhile, UAE Presidential Advisor Anwar Gargash also commented on the situation. He urged Iran to reconsider its approach and avoid unnecessary conflict with neighbouring countries. Gargash said Iran’s dispute should not involve countries in the Gulf region.
The advisor added that cooperation and dialogue remain the best path for regional peace. He emphasized that tensions can only be reduced through diplomacy and mutual respect.
The UAE leadership has repeatedly called for calm during the current regional crisis. Officials believe that peaceful solutions are essential to protect stability in the Middle East.
Analysts say statements from the UAE reflect growing concerns among Gulf nations about regional security. At the same time, officials continue to highlight diplomacy as the preferred solution.
