Apple has officially unveiled the iPhone 17e, describing it as a more affordable model in the iPhone 17 series. The new device aims to bring modern features and performance at a lower starting price.
According to the company, customers can pre-order the iPhone 17e starting Wednesday, March 4. The phone will become available in stores and online from March 11.
Apple announced that the iPhone 17e will start at $599. The smartphone will be offered in three color options: black, white, and soft pink.
Images released by Apple show a sleek design with a single rear camera. This design differs from the triple-camera setup found in the standard iPhone 17 model.
The iPhone 17e comes with Apple’s new A19 processor. The company says the chip delivers fast performance for apps, games, and everyday tasks.
Apple has also introduced a new cellular modem called C1X in the iPhone 17e. The company claims this modem is twice as fast as the one used in the previous iPhone 16e model.
The device includes a 48-megapixel fusion camera system. It supports 4K Dolby Vision video recording and offers a 2x telephoto feature for better zoom capability.
The iPhone 17e features a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR display. This screen is designed to provide bright colors and sharp image quality.
Apple has also improved the durability of the device. The phone includes Ceramic Shield 2, which the company says offers three times better scratch resistance.
The smartphone supports MagSafe technology and fast wireless charging. These features allow users to charge devices quickly and connect compatible accessories.
One of the most notable features of the iPhone 17e is satellite messaging. This feature allows users to send messages even when they do not have cellular or Wi-Fi coverage.
Apple says this feature can help users stay connected in remote locations or emergency situations.
Kaiann Drance, Apple’s vice president of Worldwide iPhone Product Marketing, said the iPhone 17e combines performance and popular features at a competitive price.
She added that the device is designed to remain fast, secure, and useful for years.
Apple also highlighted its environmental efforts in producing the new phone. The iPhone 17e is made with 30 percent recycled materials.
This includes 85 percent recycled aluminum in the phone’s outer structure. The battery also uses 100 percent recycled cobalt.
Apple said the device is manufactured using 55 percent renewable electricity across its supply chain. These sources include wind and solar energy.
The launch of the iPhone 17e comes as competition in the smartphone market continues to grow. Samsung has also announced that its Galaxy S26 Ultra will be released on March 11, the same day Apple’s new phone becomes available.
