Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Marriyum Aurangzeb, emphasized that the arrest of Imran Khan in the Toshakhana criminal case was solely based on legal grounds and dismissed any suggestions of political motives behind it. In an exclusive interview with BBC, Aurangzeb firmly denied any political vendetta against the deposed premier, stressing that the case had undergone a thorough legal process with full compliance with all requirements.
She stated that the deposed premier had failed to testify in the case and did not appear in court in his defense, leading to the issuance of an arrest order. Aurangzeb also condemned the violent attacks carried out by PTI activists on May 9, expressing that government property cannot be granted to those involved in such actions.

Regarding concerns about the economy, Aurangzeb criticized certain parties for blaming the cabinet and underscored the importance of transparency and accountability in governance. She clarified that she appropriately deposited state gifts she received and emphasized that Chairman PTI must face accountability and answer allegations in court.
Aurangzeb reaffirmed the government’s commitment to upholding the rule of law and highlighted that the arrest of Imran Khan was carried out according to a court order without any protests against the legal process.
