US Confirms 28,000 Citizens Safely Returned From Middle East

The United States government says around 28,000 Citizens have safely returned to the country from the Middle East. The return took place after tensions escalated following military strikes against Iran.

According to the US State Department, the evacuation process began after the United States and Israel launched attacks on Iran on February 28. Since then, American Citizens living or traveling in the region have been encouraged to return home.

Officials say the number includes people who have already reached the United States. However, it does not include Americans who have moved to other countries temporarily or those still traveling back.

Assistant Secretary Dylan Johnson confirmed the figures in an official statement. He explained that thousands of US Citizens were assisted through organized evacuation operations.

The State Department said it has arranged more than a dozen charter flights to help Americans leave the region safely. These flights carried many passengers from areas affected by rising tensions.

Government officials say the evacuation efforts are ongoing. Authorities continue to monitor the security situation across the Middle East as the conflict develops.

The return of thousands of Citizens reflects growing concern about safety in the region. Military actions and rising tensions have increased risks for foreigners living in several Middle Eastern countries.

US authorities have been coordinating closely with embassies and consulates to support Americans abroad. Diplomatic missions have helped arrange transportation and provided guidance to travelers.

Officials also confirmed that many Citizens decided to leave on commercial flights before the situation worsened. Others were assisted through special evacuation operations arranged by the government.

In addition to those already back in the United States, some Americans have relocated to nearby countries while waiting for travel arrangements.

The State Department said it continues to track the movement of US Citizens in the region. Officials are providing regular updates and safety instructions to those still abroad.

The government has urged Americans to remain alert and follow official travel guidance. Citizens currently in the Middle East have been advised to stay in contact with US embassies and monitor security updates.
