Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has announced a relief package for Bikers following the recent increase in petrol prices across Pakistan. The subsidy aims to help motorcyclists manage rising fuel costs caused by global energy pressures.
Chief Minister Sohail Afridi introduced the new scheme during a press conference. He said the provincial government will provide financial assistance to registered Bikers in the province.
Under the program, every registered motorcyclist will receive a monthly grant of Rs 2,200. The provincial government will cover the full cost of the subsidy to support Bikers facing higher transportation expenses.
Officials said the decision was taken after petrol prices increased sharply due to tensions in the Middle East. Rising global oil prices have pushed fuel costs higher across many countries.
According to the chief minister, there are between 1.4 million and 1.6 million motorcycles currently registered in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The new subsidy program will benefit a large number of Bikers who rely on motorcycles for daily travel and work.
Many residents in the province use motorcycles as their primary mode of transport. The financial support is expected to ease some of the pressure caused by increasing fuel prices.
The chief minister also confirmed that Bus Rapid Transit fares in the province will not increase. Authorities want to ensure that public transport remains affordable for the general public.
Sohail Afridi criticized the recent petrol price increase announced by the federal government. He said the decision has placed additional economic pressure on ordinary citizens.
He described the fuel price hike as a heavy burden on the public. The chief minister urged the federal government to reconsider such decisions and reduce unnecessary spending.
Officials also emphasized that provincial governments should be consulted before major economic decisions are made. They believe better coordination could help protect citizens from sudden financial shocks.
While the subsidy amount has been confirmed, authorities are still deciding how the payments will be distributed. The government may transfer the funds directly to bank accounts or use a system similar to the Ehsaas Program.
The final details of the payment method will be announced soon. Officials said the program aims to provide quick relief to Bikers struggling with rising fuel costs.
Experts say such measures can help support low-income workers who depend on motorcycles for commuting and small businesses.

The provincial government hopes the subsidy program will reduce the financial impact of fuel price increases and provide immediate support to Bikers across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
