MANAMA – Authorities in Bahrain have arrested six Asian nationals, including five Pakistanis, over allegations of filming and sharing sensitive videos online. The arrests were announced by Bahrain’s Interior Ministry through an official statement.
According to the ministry, the suspects were detained by the Anti-Cyber Crime Directorate. Officials said the individuals recorded and shared videos connected to recent regional tensions involving Iran. The videos were reportedly posted and reshared on social media platforms.
The Interior Ministry stated that the suspects allegedly praised or showed sympathy toward actions described as hostile. Authorities claimed that such content could threaten national security and disturb public order.
Among those arrested were five Pakistanis and one citizen of Bangladesh. Officials said the suspects used their personal social media accounts to distribute the videos.
Authorities believe the shared content could mislead the public and create unnecessary fear among residents. They added that spreading unverified information during sensitive situations may harm stability in the country.
Legal proceedings have already started against the suspects. Officials confirmed that the individuals have been referred to the public prosecution for further investigation.
The Interior Ministry also urged residents to rely only on official information sources. Authorities warned that sharing unverified videos or rumors online could lead to serious legal consequences.
Officials stressed that people should avoid filming or posting videos related to sensitive locations or security matters. They said such activities could be considered a threat to national safety.
The warning comes as tensions in the Middle East remain high following recent developments involving United States, Israel, and Iran. Reports suggest that military actions in the region have increased security concerns across Gulf countries.
Earlier, Bahrain’s Interior Ministry also warned that anyone photographing strategic sites could face punishment. Authorities said sharing such material online might assist hostile activities against the country.
The case involving the arrested Pakistanis has attracted attention among expatriate communities in Bahrain. Many residents are now being reminded to follow local laws regarding social media use and online content sharing.
