No Petrol Price Increase in Pakistan This Week as PM Promises Relief

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced that there will be no increase in Petrol prices in Pakistan this week. The decision aims to provide relief to citizens facing economic pressure.

According to the Prime Minister’s Office, the move is part of the government’s effort to reduce the burden on ordinary people. Rising global energy prices have affected many countries, including Pakistan.

The prime minister said the global economy is currently facing serious challenges. Regional conflicts and tensions have increased uncertainty in international markets. These conditions have also influenced oil and Petrol prices worldwide.

Despite these challenges, the government decided not to raise Petrol prices for now. Officials say the decision reflects the leadership’s commitment to protect the public from further financial pressure.

Shehbaz Sharif explained that government policies and economic management are helping the country handle global shocks. He said strict austerity measures and financial discipline are being implemented to maintain economic stability.

The prime minister also appreciated the support of provincial governments. He said their cooperation in cost-cutting efforts shows national unity during difficult times.

Officials stated that Pakistan currently has enough crude oil supplies to meet national demand. Diplomatic and economic teams have worked to secure stable energy supplies for the country.

The government has also instructed authorities to ensure that Petrol is sold at the official price across the country. Both federal and provincial administrations will monitor markets to prevent overcharging.

The announcement comes shortly after a significant increase in fuel prices. Last week, Petrol and diesel prices rose sharply due to the ongoing conflict involving Iran. The crisis disrupted global oil supply chains and pushed international prices higher.

Earlier, the government increased fuel prices by around Rs55 per litre. At the same time, authorities introduced several austerity measures to protect the national economy from additional shocks.

The next fuel price review was originally expected on Sunday, March 15. However, officials indicated that the review date could be moved earlier.

During a high-level meeting, Pakistan’s top leadership decided that no further fuel price hikes should occur in the immediate future. The meeting included senior government officials and military leadership.

Authorities also discussed using emergency financial allocations if global prices increase further. These funds could help absorb sudden changes in oil prices.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif warned that the current global fuel crisis remains a serious challenge. He linked the situation to regional conflicts that have disrupted energy markets.
