Naqvi meets Chinese Ambassador to discuss security, investment, and cooperation

Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi visited the Chinese Embassy in Islamabadโ€™s Diplomatic Enclave, where he was welcomed by Chinese Ambassador Jiang Zedong.

During the meeting, Naqvi and the ambassador discussed key topics including counter-terrorism, security cooperation, and police exchange programs. The regional situation and measures to protect foreign investors in Pakistan were also addressed.

To strengthen security for Chinese nationals, Naqvi announced the establishment of a Special Protection Unit. This unit will ensure the safety of Chinese citizens in Islamabad and will include personnel trained in the Chinese language.

The minister emphasized that a business conference will be organized in two phases. The first phase will involve meetings with the Chinese business community already in Pakistan. The second phase will focus on potential investors interested in exploring opportunities in the country.

This initiative comes as part of broader efforts to enhance Pakistan-China cooperation. It aims to address security challenges while promoting investment and economic engagement.

A day earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif met Ambassador Jiang at the PM House. They discussed ongoing bilateral projects, including CPEC 2.0, with a focus on agriculture, industry, and infrastructure development. The prime minister also congratulated China on the successful conclusion of the โ€œTwo Sessionsโ€ and thanked them for Pakistan Day greetings.

Ambassador Jiang expressed Chinaโ€™s appreciation for Pakistanโ€™s reform efforts and resilience. He reaffirmed continued support in trade, investment, and strategic cooperation. Both sides highlighted the โ€œAll-Weather Strategic Cooperative Partnershipโ€ and noted plans to mark the 75th anniversary of diplomatic ties through high-level engagements.
