US Military Says Blockade of Iranian Ports to Begin Amid Rising Gulf Tensions

The situation in the Gulf has sharply escalated after new military announcements. The developments are linked to growing tensions over the Strait of Hormuz.

The US military says it will begin a blockade of all Iranian Gulf ports on Monday at 1400 GMT. The move is expected to impact maritime traffic in one of the worldโ€™s most important oil routes.

The US military says the operation will target vessels entering and leaving Iranian ports. This includes ports in the Arabian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman. Officials stated that the action will apply to ships from all countries.

According to the statement, the goal is to enforce maritime restrictions in a controlled manner. However, the US military says it will not interfere with ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz to non-Iranian destinations.

The Strait of Hormuz is a critical global waterway. Nearly one-fifth of the worldโ€™s oil supply passes through it. Any disruption in this area can affect global energy markets.

Iran has strongly reacted to the announcement. The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps claimed full control over the Strait of Hormuz. It warned that foreign forces could face serious consequences.

Iranian military officials also responded to earlier threats. Navy chief Shahram Irani called the situation exaggerated. He said Iranโ€™s forces are closely monitoring all regional movements.

Iranโ€™s parliament speaker also rejected the pressure. He said the country will not give in to threats. He stressed that Iran is ready for both dialogue and confrontation.

The US military says the blockade is part of a broader security strategy in the region. Officials claim it is intended to regulate maritime activity around Iranian ports.

Meanwhile, global oil markets reacted quickly. Prices surged above $100 per barrel after the announcement. Traders expressed concern over possible supply disruptions.

West Texas Intermediate crude rose sharply in early trading. Brent crude also recorded a significant increase, reflecting market uncertainty.

Analysts warn that further escalation could impact global trade. Energy supplies and shipping routes remain at risk if tensions continue.
