Babar Azam, captain of Peshawar Zalmi, achieved a major milestone with an unbeaten half-century against Quetta Gladiators in the 23rd match of Pakistan Super League at the National Bank Stadium. He scored 71 runs off 51 balls, leading his team to a comfortable eight-wicket victory.
This remarkable innings marked his 100th half-century in T20 cricket, placing him among the top performers in the format. With this achievement, Babar became only the fourth player in history to reach the milestone.
He now joins an elite group featuring David Warner, Virat Kohli, and Jos Buttler, all known for their consistency in the shortest format.
Warner currently leads the list with the highest number of T20 half-centuries, followed by Kohli. Buttler and Babar now share the third position with 100 fifties each.
In another impressive stat, Babarโs match-winning knock was also his 110th fifty-plus score in T20 cricket. This achievement helped him equal the record of Chris Gayle, who reached the same number in significantly more innings.
Babar achieved this milestone in just 341 innings, compared to Gayleโs 455, highlighting his exceptional consistency and efficiency as a top-order batter.
Among players with the most fifty-plus scores in T20 cricket, Warner continues to lead, followed by Kohli. Babar and Gayle share the third spot, while Buttler remains close behind.
This performance not only secured a win for Peshawar Zalmi but also further strengthened Babar Azamโs reputation as one of the finest modern-day batters in T20 cricket.
