The National Disaster Management Authority has issued a nationwide weather alert for April 18 to 23, warning of thunderstorms, strong winds, and possible hailstorms in multiple regions. Authorities have urged citizens to remain cautious during this period.
According to the National Emergencies Operation Centre, upper and central Punjab are expected to receive intermittent rainfall accompanied by gusty winds on April 18 and 19. Weather conditions may disrupt daily activities in several districts.
Major cities, including Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Lahore, and Faisalabad, are likely to experience thunderstorms during this timeframe, raising concerns about urban flooding and traffic disruptions.
In southern Punjab, conditions are expected to remain mostly dry. However, parts of Balochistan, including Quetta, Zhob, Ziarat, and Khuzdar, may receive rain and thunderstorms on April 18, 19, 22, and 23.
Coastal areas such as Gwadar could also witness strong winds and light rain, potentially affecting fishing and port activities along the coast.
In Sindh, including Karachi, dust storms and thunderstorms with rain are forecast for April 19 and 20, while temperatures are expected to remain above normal in several areas.
Regions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Kashmir are also likely to experience rain and strong winds. Snowfall is expected in upper areas, increasing the risk of landslides.
Authorities have advised citizens to take precautionary measures, especially in mountainous regions, to avoid potential hazards caused by severe weather conditions during the alert period.
