The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is reportedly planning to build a new cricket stadium in Saudi Arabia. The proposed venue could host future matches of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) in the city of Jeddah.
According to reports, the PCB has already received initial approval from its governing board for the project. However, several discussions and formal agreements are still pending. The proposal remains in the early planning phase.
The PCB is considering this project as part of its broader strategy to expand cricket beyond Pakistan. Officials believe that international collaborations can help grow the sport in new regions.
Saudi Arabia has shown increasing interest in cricket in recent years. The country has been investing in sports infrastructure and international sporting events. Because of this growing interest, the PCB sees potential in developing a modern cricket facility there.
Reports suggest that the board has approved an expression of interest to work with the Saudi Arabia Cricket Federation (SACF). The partnership could focus on building a new stadium in Jeddah. The proposal was reportedly discussed during a recent board meeting held in Lahore.
If the project moves forward, the new stadium may host PSL matches in the future. This would give the league another international venue outside Pakistan. Previously, several PSL matches were successfully held in the United Arab Emirates.
The plan also connects with earlier discussions between cricket officials and Saudi authorities. Mohsin Naqvi, the chairman of the PCB, visited Saudi Arabia in December 2024. During the visit, he met Prince Saud bin Mishal Al-Saud.
Both sides reportedly discussed the possibility of building a cricket stadium and promoting the sport in the Kingdom. These talks were seen as a step toward stronger sports cooperation.
Saudi Arabiaโs cricket structure has improved in recent years. The Saudi Arabia Cricket Federation was formally established in 2020. Since then, the federation has worked to organize and promote cricket activities in the country.

For now, the stadium project remains under consideration. Final approvals, planning details, and timelines are still being reviewed. If approved, the initiative could open new opportunities for the PCB and expand the global reach of the PSL.
