Sindh introduces new fee rules for private schools in 2026–27 session

KARACHI – The Sindh government has announced updated guidelines for private school fee collection for the 2026–27 academic session. The decision introduces clearer payment structures and stronger regulations for institutions.

Officials confirmed that the academic year began on April 1, 2026. Matriculation examinations have been ongoing since April 10.

Under the updated policy, new fee rules have been introduced to regulate monthly fee collection. Schools have been instructed to charge matric students only up to March.

Institutions are strictly prohibited from adding extra charges for students appearing in board examinations. Authorities said this step aims to protect students from unnecessary financial burden.

The government also introduced a separate system for students moving from Class IX to Class X. This is designed to ensure smooth financial transitions during promotion.

According to officials, schools are allowed to collect June and July fees in advance. This collection can only be done during April and May.

However, strict conditions apply under the new fee rules. Schools must issue separate vouchers for each month. Each voucher must clearly mention the applicable month.

The June fee voucher will remain valid until June 30. Similarly, the July voucher will be valid until July 31.

Authorities said the new fee rules apply to students from pre-primary level up to Class IX. The goal is to standardise fee collection across private institutions.

Education officials added that the reforms aim to improve transparency. They also seek to reduce disputes between parents and school administrations.

Earlier, the Sindh High Court (SHC) allowed a Class IX student to appear in examinations. This decision came amid a dispute over June and July fee demands.

According to court details, the student’s family challenged a private school in Karachi. They argued that advance fee challans for June and July were issued unfairly.

The petitioner’s lawyer stated that the school violated established procedures. The court granted conditional relief while the matter remains under review.
