Punjab to Launch Modern Electric Buses Service in Attock for Affordable Travel

Punjab Transport Minister Bilal Akbar Khan has announced continued efforts to improve public transport across the province. The government is focusing on modern, safe, and affordable travel solutions, including the introduction of new Electric Buses.

During his visit to Attock, the minister inspected arrangements at the General Bus Stand and Electric Vehicle Stand. He also appreciated the performance of the Regional Transport Authority (RTA) Attock for its operational improvements.

Officials said preparations for launching the Green Electric Bus Service in Attock are in the final stages. The project is being developed under the vision of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz.

The minister confirmed that the Electric Buses are expected to start operations within eight to nine days after Eid. He said the service aims to provide affordable and reliable transport for daily commuters.

According to the plan, the Electric Buses will charge a fare of only Rs. 20. This low fare is designed to support students, workers, and low-income passengers.

Officials added that the Electric Buses will include several modern facilities. These include mobile charging ports, security cameras, panic buttons, and a cashless card payment system.

A separate compartment will also be reserved for women to ensure safe and comfortable travel. The buses are designed to improve passenger convenience and safety standards.

The minister said the Electric Buses will be environmentally friendly. They will be both smoke-free and noise-free, helping reduce pollution in urban areas.

He also stated that the government has adopted a strict zero-tolerance policy against violations during Eid travel. This includes overcharging, overloading, rooftop travel, and illegal fare collection.

Authorities believe the new Electric Buses will modernize public transport in Punjab. The service is expected to reduce travel costs while improving overall commuting experience.
