Motorway E-Challan Payments Go Digital with Raast QR on Selected Routes

In a major step toward digital payments, Pakistan has introduced a new Motorway E-Challan payment system through Raast QR. The move supports the State Bank of Pakistanโ€™s vision for a cashless economy and aligns with the Prime Ministerโ€™s Cashless Pakistan initiative.

The new system was launched through a joint effort by the National Highway Authority (NHA), National Highways and Motorway Police (NHMP), and Zindigi by JS Bank. It aims to make the Motorway E-Challan payment process faster and easier for travelers.

The service has started on a pilot basis on selected motorway routes. These include the M1 Motorway between Islamabad and Peshawar, the M2 Motorway between Islamabad and Lahore, and the Islamabad-Murree Expressway.

Under this new setup, motorists can pay speeding fines instantly by scanning a Raast QR code. The payment can be made using any banking app. This removes the need to carry cash or visit payment centers.

Officials say the digital Motorway E-Challan system will improve convenience for road users. It will also increase transparency in fine collection. Digital payments will help reduce manual cash handling and lower the chances of errors.

The system is designed to save time for both motorists and motorway authorities. Drivers can now complete their challan payments directly from their mobile phones within minutes.

Authorities believe this step will support wider adoption of digital payments in Pakistan. It also reflects the governmentโ€™s focus on modernizing public services.

The pilot phase will be monitored closely. Officials will review its performance before expanding the service to more motorways and highways across the country.

Motorists traveling on these routes are encouraged to use the new Motorway E-Challan payment option. The QR-based system offers a quick, simple, and cashless way to clear traffic fines.
