Iqra Kanwal and Husband Areeb Get Relief in PECA Case

Iqra Kanwal and Husband Areeb Get Relief in PECA Case

Pakistani YouTuber Iqra Kanwal and her husband, Areeb, have received significant legal relief after a local court approved their bail in a PECA Case. The decision marks an important development in proceedings that had required the couple to appear in court for several months.

According to reports, Additional Sessions Judge Nusrat Ali Siddiqui approved the bail petitions of Iqra Kanwal and Areeb. The court’s order ended their repeated appearances related to the case registered under the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (PECA).

The PECA Case was registered by the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA). Since the case was filed, the couple had been attending court hearings while seeking confirmation of their bail. With the latest decision, they have now secured legal protection while the case continues through the judicial process.

The matter is linked to the FIA’s wider action against social media influencers accused of promoting or endorsing online betting and gambling platforms through digital content. Authorities have launched investigations into several online personalities as part of an ongoing campaign to enforce cybercrime laws.

Earlier this year, multiple well-known content creators came under investigation after the FIA registered cases over alleged violations of the Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act. The agency claimed that some influencers promoted online betting platforms through their social media channels.

Alongside Iqra Kanwal and Areeb, several other influencers were also named in separate investigations. These included popular YouTuber Ducky Bhai, whose real name is Saad Ur Rehman, and social media influencer Aroob Jatoi.

In a separate legal matter, Aroob Jatoi had already secured bail in a case related to the alleged promotion of online gambling. Her case is independent of the proceedings involving Iqra Kanwal and Areeb, although both fall under the FIA’s broader crackdown on digital content linked to online betting.

The PECA Case against Iqra Kanwal and Areeb remains part of that larger investigation. The recent court order does not conclude the legal proceedings but allows the couple to remain on bail while the matter continues in court.

The Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act provides the legal framework for investigating and prosecuting cyber-related offences in Pakistan. The FIA has stated that it is committed to taking action against individuals who allegedly violate these laws through online activities.

The latest court decision has drawn attention from social media users, many of whom have been following the legal proceedings involving some of Pakistan’s most popular digital creators. The case has also sparked discussions about influencer responsibilities, online advertising, and compliance with cybercrime regulations.

For now, the approval of bail offers temporary relief to Iqra Kanwal and Areeb. The PECA Case will continue through the legal process, with future hearings expected to determine the outcome based on the evidence presented before the court.
