Weekly Inflation Rises 0.15% as Annual Rate Hits 9.11%

ISLAMABAD: Weekly inflation in Pakistan rose by 0.15 per cent during the latest week. The annual inflation rate reached 9.11 per cent, according to new data from the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).

The latest Weekly inflation report showed mixed price movements across essential commodities. Prices of several food and household items increased during the week. However, some commodities also became cheaper.

According to the PBS report, prices of 20 essential commodities increased during the week. Nine items recorded a decline in prices. Meanwhile, prices of 22 commodities remained unchanged.

Onion prices recorded the sharpest increase during the week. The price of onions rose by 24.68 per cent. Gram pulse also became more expensive, with prices increasing by 3.35 per cent.

Chicken prices increased by 2.45 per cent during the week. Consumers also faced higher prices for yoghurt and garlic. Tea prices also increased during the reported period.

The price increases affected several commonly used household and food products. These changes contributed to the overall rise in Weekly inflation recorded by the PBS.

Despite the increases, prices of some essential items declined. Tomato prices fell by 1.26 per cent during the week. Petrol prices also recorded a decrease of 2.35 per cent.

Diesel prices declined by 0.29 per cent during the same period. Sugar, eggs and potatoes also became cheaper compared with the previous week.

The latest figures show that price movements remained mixed across essential commodities. While food items such as onions and chicken became more expensive, some other products provided relief to consumers.

The PBS data provides a weekly snapshot of changes in prices of essential goods across Pakistan. The figures are closely watched to assess short-term inflationary trends.

The rise in Weekly inflation highlights continued pressure on household budgets. Consumers may continue to face changing prices for commonly used food and fuel items.
