KARACHI: Pakistani television host and Awam Raj Tehreek chief Iqrar-ul-Hassan has reportedly been placed on four-day physical remand. The case involves allegations of publishing social media content against the state and national integrity.

According to the supplied report, the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) presented him before a judicial magistrate at Karachi’s City Courts.

During the hearing, NCCIA investigators requested 14 days of physical remand for further questioning. However, the magistrate approved only four days, allowing investigators to continue their inquiry while keeping him in custody.

The case has reportedly been registered with the NCCIA under FIR No. 101/2026.

The allegations concern activities described as undermining the state and national integrity. However, the available report does not specify the exact social media posts involved.

During the proceedings, the magistrate questioned Iqrar-ul-Hassan about his treatment while in custody. The television host reportedly told the court that he had not been physically assaulted.

The magistrate also asked whether he had appointed a lawyer to represent him.

He responded that he had not yet engaged legal counsel at the time of the hearing. The court proceedings followed reports of his detention from his residence in Lahore’s DHA Phase 8.

According to his family, personnel wearing plain clothes arrived at the house during a late-night operation.

Sources claimed that the officials reached the residence at approximately 3 a.m. and took him into custody.

Female officials were also reportedly present during the operation.

Some personnel allegedly wore badges identifying them as members of the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency.

The circumstances surrounding the reported arrest attracted attention after family members publicly raised concerns.

Details of the incident subsequently circulated across social media platforms. Meanwhile, television host Waseem Badami also commented on the reported detention through a video statement.

Badami, who has worked with Iqrar-ul-Hassan on several television programmes, said he had received information about the arrest.

He also referred to reports that female officials accompanied the plainclothes personnel involved in the operation. The reported arrest and subsequent court appearance have drawn attention to the ongoing cybercrime investigation.

The four-day physical remand allows the NCCIA to continue questioning the television personality under the court’s order.

However, physical remand does not establish guilt, and the allegations remain subject to investigation and judicial proceedings.

The available report does not provide details about the evidence submitted by investigators or any formal response to the allegations.
