Roshan Bibi, a survivor of the Chilas firing incident, where unidentified assailants attacked a passenger bus on the Karakoram Highway, has displayed remarkable courage. Roshan, a 28-year-old mother of a five-year-old daughter and a two-year-old son, sustained six bullets while ensuring the safety of her family during the assault.
The attack, which occurred on a bus traveling from Ghizar district in Gilgit-Baltistan to Rawalpindi, left 26 people injured and claimed the lives of nine passengers. When gunshots rang out, Roshan was seated by the window with her daughter. Without hesitation, she shielded her children by hiding them under the seats, pushed her husband down to the bus’s floor, and protected her family by covering them with her own body.

Her husband, Bulbul Shah, shared that Roshan will undergo additional surgeries to address the remaining bullets based on medical advice. Despite experiencing numbness in parts of her back due to the injuries, Roshan expressed gratitude that her children remained unharmed. Both she and her husband are now in stable condition.
