ISLAMABAD – An FIR has been lodged at the Abpara police station regarding a blade attack on Raoof Hasan, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) spokesperson and Central Information Secretary. The incident, described as a premeditated assault, took place in Islamabad’s G-7 sector.
The FIR was registered under sections 324 (attempt to commit murder), 109 (abetment), and 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) of the Pakistan Penal Code. Raoof Hasan reported that the attack was carried out by a group of four individuals, who appeared to be from the transgender community, with the intent to inflict a fatal injury by targeting his jugular vein. Despite the severity of the attack, Hasan stated he holds no personal grudge against anyone and urged authorities to take action against the perpetrators and provide him with security.
Footage shared on social media by PTI showed Hasan bleeding from the face, accompanied by anchor Shahid Masood, and has sparked widespread condemnation from PTI leaders. They described the attack as an affront to free speech, democracy, and the rule of law, and vowed not to be deterred by such tactics.

Senior Superintendent of Police Hassan Jahangir Wattoo announced that the incident’s footage is being analyzed for further details, and geo-fencing will be conducted to aid the investigation. CCTV footage corroborated Hasan’s account, showing him being attacked by four individuals.
The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) also condemned the attack and called for a thorough investigation. PTI leader Barrister Gohar Ali Khan reported that Hasan sustained three cuts on his right cheek and is currently receiving medical treatment, including stitches.
