Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Hammad Azhar has resigned once again as the party’s Punjab president, citing his inability to access Imran Khan and restrictions on his movements as the main reasons for his decision. Azhar, who is currently in hiding due to fears of arrest related to the events of May 9, expressed his frustration over being excluded from decision-making within PTI’s Punjab chapter. He criticized the process as being influenced by lobbying rather than merit and voiced concerns about Imran Khan receiving one-sided information.
Azhar pointed to the removal of Chaudhry Asghar as PTI’s Lahore president as an example of this lobbying, suggesting that those pushing for Asghar’s replacement succeeded by presenting misleading information to Khan. He argued that these decisions were made without proper consideration of merit and that Khan was not being fully informed about the struggles of PTI members in other regions.

Azhar emphasized that it was impossible for him to ignore merit and remove dedicated members simply because their voices were not reaching Khan. He expressed concern that the PTI leadership, including Khan, was not aware of the true challenges faced by party members, leading to decisions that did not reflect the party’s best interests.
As a result, Azhar felt compelled to step down from his position, as he could not continue in a role where he felt unable to advocate effectively for those who were making significant contributions and sacrifices for the party.
