The International Cricket Council (ICC) is engaging with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) after the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) raised concerns about India’s potential withdrawal from the 2025 Champions Trophy in Pakistan. The PCB’s formal communication highlighted issues with the hybrid model for the tournament, prompting the ICC to seek clarification from the Indian board.
Sources confirm that the PCB has been discussing the situation with other cricket boards, which has complicated the ICC’s position. Pakistan has strongly opposed the hybrid model, further escalating tensions. The ICC is expected to take a few days to address the PCB’s concerns, having already initiated talks with the BCCI to understand its stance.

The BCCI is expected to provide a written statement after considering the legal aspects of the matter. The ICC will base its response to the PCB on this statement. In the meantime, ICC officials are consulting with other cricketing nations to find a solution that aligns with all parties’ interests.
This development adds complexity to the planning for the 2025 Champions Trophy, scheduled to take place in Pakistan in February-March, marking the country’s first international event since 2008.
