Gas Shortage Adds to Ramazan Woes, Residents Struggle During Sehri and Iftar

On the first day of Ramazan, several areas in the city faced a significant disruption in the supply of piped gas, causing frustration during the preparation of Sehri and Iftar. In areas like Latifabad, Qasimabad, Site, Tando Jam, and Tando Fazal, gas supply remained suspended at critical times, leaving residents scrambling to find alternative ways to prepare their meals.

Even in areas where gas was available, the pressure was so low that residents struggled to cook. Many turned to cylinders and wood to prepare food for Sehri, while others in urban areas were forced to buy ready-made items from the market, often at inflated prices. The ongoing gas crisis further exacerbated the challenges of rising food costs during Ramazan.

The situation during Iftar was no different, with gas pressure dropping significantly just as people were preparing to break their fast. Typically, gas pressure remains stable during Maghrib prayer, but on the first day of Ramazan, the drop was particularly noticeable, causing widespread inconvenience in households across the city.

Residents voiced their frustrations, highlighting that essential items like fruits and dates have already become expensive, leaving many reliant on home-cooked meals. However, with the gas supply issues, even basic meal preparation is becoming difficult. Many blamed the Sui Gas Company for the situation.

In response, a Sui Gas Company official clarified that no load-shedding was being conducted during Sehri and Iftar times but admitted that increased demand could lead to a drop in pressure. Despite the explanation, residents remain concerned about how they will manage through the holy month if these issues persist.
