A Nigerian national arriving from Bahrain was apprehended at Lahore airport after 35 capsules filled with cocaine were seized from his stomach. This arrest was part of a larger crackdown by the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF), which led to the seizure of drugs worth over Rs 381 million in various operations across Pakistan.
According to an ANF spokesperson, the recent operations resulted in the confiscation of 406.98 kilograms of narcotics, with eight individuals, including foreign nationals and a woman, arrested for their involvement in drug smuggling activities.
In one notable operation near Islamabad on the M-1 motorway, a woman was found in possession of 4.8 kilograms of opium and 7.2 kilograms of hashish. In a separate incident on the same motorway, authorities arrested two suspects and recovered 8.4 kilograms of hashish hidden in a car.

Other operations included the seizure of 2.4 kilograms of hashish from a passenger on a bus and 450 grams of hashish from a suspect near a college in Mansehra. In Balochistan, a significant quantity of 360 kilograms of hashish was discovered in a deserted area in Pishin, while another 21.6 kilograms were found hidden in a vehicle near Peshawar.
The ANF has filed cases under the Anti-Narcotics Act against all arrested individuals, and investigations are ongoing to dismantle drug trafficking networks. Last month, the ANF successfully foiled multiple drug smuggling attempts, seizing 28 kilograms of narcotics worth over Rs 10 million.
Authorities are continuing their efforts to combat drug trafficking, with a particular focus on educational institutions and key transport hubs, as they target both domestic and international smuggling networks.
