Temperatures continued to soar across Punjab on Thursday, with the province gripped by an intensifying spell of hot and dry weather. The Pakistan Meteorological Department has warned that no immediate respite is expected, as the heatwave shows no signs of abating.
Lahore and other major cities have recorded a steady increase in temperature, forcing residents to rely heavily on fans and air conditioners. According to the Met office, Lahore’s temperature reached a high of 34°C, with a minimum recorded at 19°C. Officials predict similar conditions will persist over the coming days.

The ongoing dry spell has exacerbated the heat, leading authorities to advise people to stay hydrated and limit sun exposure during peak hours. The early arrival of high temperatures has also raised concerns about rising energy consumption and water shortages across the region.
With no forecast of rainfall in the next 72 hours, experts urge caution, as the demand for electricity surges and the risk of heat-related illnesses increases. Residents have been advised to take necessary precautions to cope with the extreme weather conditions.
