The deceased Pakistanis include Zahid Mehmood, son of Liaqat Ali, from Gujranwala, and three individuals from Mandi Bahauddin: Sameer Ali, son of Raja Abdul Qadeer; Syed Ali Hussain, son of Shafqat-ul-Hussnain; and Asif Ali, son of Nazar Muhammad.
In addition to the Pakistani victims, five Egyptian nationals have also been confirmed dead. The Pakistani embassy stated that it remains in contact with Libyan authorities to gather further details about the incident.
Meanwhile, in a related development, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) recently apprehended Usman Jajja, the main suspect in the Greece boat tragedy. That incident, which occurred on December 14 last year, led to the deaths of 40 Pakistanis.
Jajja, who had previously been held in Sialkot Jail on charges related to a physical altercation, managed to secure bail and fled custody. He was later tracked down and arrested in Gilgit-Baltistan. The FIA reported that he had been operating an international human trafficking ring and had been on the run ever since his escape.
